Using the new iPhone and a CB microphone.
the question has come up several dozen times now asking if the new iPhone with the CB microphone has the capabilities to work with the Echolink software. The short answer to this question is YES.
The new CB microphone for the iPhone has the ability to mute the receive whenever the PTT (Push To Talk) button is pressed for simplex type operation. The Echolink software on the iPhone also recognizes when the PTT is pressed and starts transmitting.
So no you can set the iPhone in it's placeholder mounted to your dash and use the CB style Microphone while using Echolink. How cool is that ?
