Fired up the Johnson Valiant, and the Hammarlund yesterday, and playing around on the ham bands. Those radio's are a lot of fun to operate, and require some thinking in order to use them to make contacts. Not doing anything spectacular with them as far as DX goes, but meeting a LOT of local's (US) stations now, and chatting with them. Most of the time, they have no idea what im talking about, which I find surprising. Oh well, to each his own.
Also put up the 40M EDZ in the tree finally, and have it at 65ft, give or take a few. Also got the 80M Vertical up at abt 50ft. It slopes some, and the radials arent the right size yet, but it DOES have a good SWR at 3.550MHZ now, which is what I was shooting for. Hopefully it will play well this weekend in the WPX. That is my biggest obstacle, is working stations on 80M. Usually after the propagation moves to the lower frequencies, I am done for the night. i can do OK on 40M, but not as well as the higher frequencies, so that is what I am aiming for now, to get a stronger signal on 80M/ 160M, and get my contest rates up to where they should be.
Ok thats all II have for now, hope to see you this weekend in the WPX CW contest. .73
