Finally got the Kenwood TS-440 HF radio back on the bench this weekend. When I was cleaning up some of the goop in the RF boards, apparently I had nicked R54 (100_()_ resistor), and it was making an intermittent connection, causing the dreaded dot problem. When I found it, i was able to find a replacement for it and place it in the RF board. Now the radio works like a champ. Was also able to get the Cushcraft R5 Vertical cleaned up and retuned for the CW portion of the bands. Very productive weekend. next week i would like to lower the 35 ft mast and clean it up, and straighten the darn thing up as well. I may end up having to put guys wires on it as well. Thats it for now.
