What is happening at Radio Station W7DTG

What The heck has been going on over at Radio Station W7DTG?

Been a while since I posted anything, but honestly I haven't had a lot to say. Been working on a few other websites that I own and also started working part time unloading freight trucks in the morning time. It is a great workout but the hours are horrible. At most I get 2 hours a day, which barely pays for my gas. It is like an early morning workout first thing in the morning, and makes for a great day. I am motivated to be more productive as well.

Kaito Voyager Pro KA600

Been doing a lot of Shortwave listening with the Kaito Voyager Pro KA600 out in the RV that I am rebuilding. it is nice to hang the Kaito in the window and let the solar panel on the back recharge the radio while listening to a local station. Do not get real good reception inside the RV, even with the kaito in the window.

Still is nice to be able to play the radio without worrying about batteries, and the Shortwave bands are great to listen to in the daytime.

Speaking of the RV. I recently found that the top outside frame has a few rotten spots. After taking the headliner off the ceiling I discover that a few of the cross beams were rotten. I also discover that the entire inside wall is going to have to be inspected. This means removing the wood paneling and insulation. Since I have gone that far I might as well replace it while i have it down. I also discovered that some of the top frame is rotten. Been a fun project so far. I hope to eventually make it usable, and even put some 1970's retro radio equipment in it.

Speaking of retro radio equipment, I have been listening to 40 Meters in the evening and working stations with the Johnson Ranger II and Hammarlund HQ-150 more. Love working CW with these old tube type radios while I learn how to work on them and use them. Trying to get away from Plug N Play type radio gear as much as possible.

Also been checking into the Noon Time Net the last few days. This net can be found on 7268.5 from 10AM to 2PM. Just a great group of guys, and fun to listen to while I am working away. If you hear me on the net, be sure to say hello.

So, that's about it really. Been working away at CB Radio and finally starting to see some results from all my effort. I hope to bridge the gap between ham radio and CB with this website, while promoting proper radio use. Maybe it can help to end the trend of illegal 10M export radios that unsuspecting consumers are buying and stop some of the interference. A guy can wish.....
